Doosan was once again an Official Patron of this year’s British Open (more widely as The Open Championship), the oldest of the four major championships in professional golf. This was Doosan’s third year as a sponsor.
More than 200,000 spectators enjoyed the golf at Royal Lytham & St. Annes Golf Club in Lancashire, England, the site of this year’s Open Championship. The event, broadcast to 190 countries worldwide, is annually viewed by 90 million viewers, whilst 200,000 spectators also visit over the four days of the tournament.
Doosan was one of seven British Open Patrons that included Rolex, HSBC, Mercedes-Benz, MasterCard, Ralph Lauren and Nikon, and the first company headquartered in Korea to support the tournament.
A specially designed Doosan exhibition stand, complete with golf simulator and Doosan excavator simulator attracted casual visitors and invited guests. A number of models were on show, demonstrating Doosan’s products and services whilst the excavator simulation game allowed viewers to experience Doosan products directly.
Doosan Industrial Vehicles, Young Lee, head of the overseas marketing team, said: “The sponsorship of The Open has significantly contributed to promoting Doosan’s brand to the world. We are a relatively new name in many markets and the popularity of the competition has made viewers curious about our diverse business activities.”
